Green Nanosilicas for Monoaromatic Hydrocarbons Removal from Air

Abstract We demonstrate a novel application of green nanosilicas (GN), prepared via an environmentally friendly route, in removing volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Herein, we aim to establish GN as viable alternatives traditional mesoporous silicas for the removal monoaromatic hydrocarbons (MAHC). The results show that have high extraction efficiencies comparable those previously reported silicas. It was demonstrated bespoke can be syntheised readily with ability tailor their physical properties and MAHC adsorption. In order understand adsorption by GN, porosity, morphology pore structure were characterised. observed combination broad size distribution and, particular, presence meso- micro-porosity contributed selectivity.
